Welcome to Go Pangea! At Go Pangea (“the Site,” “we,” “us,” “our”), we know that you care about how personal information is used and shared. We also take your privacy very seriously. By accessing or using the Services (including without limitation the mobile version of the gopangea.org website (the “Mobile Site”) and the Go Pangea mobile application(s) available via the Apple App Store and the Android Marketplace (collectively, the “Mobile Application”), you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined in this Privacy Policy.

When using the term "Personal Information,” we are referring to personally identifiable information of individual registrants of Go Pangea. References to "Children's Personal Information" refer only to the personally identifiable information of users under the age of 18 who have registered for the Services.

What Does This Privacy Policy Cover

We will only use your data as set forth in this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy discloses the privacy practices for the Site and Mobile Applications and explains how Go Pangea collects and uses information from users who access and use our services.

The Privacy Policy may be amended at any time, with or without notice to users. We encourage you to periodically visit this page to review the current Privacy Policy. If you would not like Go Pangea to collect and use your information in the manner set forth in this Privacy Policy, please do not provide that information to us.

Information We Collect and How We Use It

Generally, we will collect certain Personal Information and Aggregate Information when you subscribe to our products or services. If you are not of legal age to form a binding contract (generally under the age of 18), you may only use the Services with your parent’s or guardian’s express consent. Review this Privacy Policy with your parent or guardian and make sure you understand it.

Teacher and Guardian Consent

Go Pangea requires a parent or guardian to provide consent before a child under the age of 18 can create a Go Pangea account. Teachers and school administrators may provide consent on behalf of parents. Parents should consult their school’s Acceptable Use Policy for more information about their child’s school’s policies and practices for protecting children on the Internet. As a teacher or school administrator, it is your responsibility to confirm that you have authority to consent on behalf of your student’s parents.

Teachers may provide consent for a child under the age of 18 electronically by assisting in the registration of Student accounts through the distribution of a unique group code associated with the Teacher’s account provided that they confirm their authority to consent, and affirmatively indicate consent, on behalf of a parent or guardian of each such student to the collection of personal information from that student by Go Pangea and to the use of such personal information under the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Parents can provide consent by email or postal mail for their children to use Go Pangea. To provide consent by postal mail, parents should fill out the Go Pangea Parent Consent Form, sign it and mail it to:

If you are a student registrant and your parent or guardian has signed up for the Services with an Access Code provided by your teacher, you understand that your parent or guardian can view, manage, and delete all information within or associated with your account by contacting support@gopangea.org.

If we learn we have collected personal information from a learner under the age of 13 without parental consent being obtained by his or her parent, school, district, and/or teacher, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that a learner under the age of 13 has provided us with personal information in violation of the Go Pangea Privacy Policy, please contact us at support@gopangea.org with “Attn: Privacy Policy” in the email subject line.

Teacher's Personal Information

During the Go Pangea Educator registration process, we collect information to help us verify the Educator’s account (i.e., first and last name and email address).

Collection

When using the term "Personal Information,” we are referring to personally identifiable information of individual registrants of Go Pangea. “Personal Information” can be identified as any information that you voluntarily submit to us, such as:

-Your first and last name;

-Email address;

-School name

-City, state, and country.

We will often request this information when you:

-Register or create a profile on Go Pangea;

-Inquire about Go Pangea, and its products or services;

-Request support;

-Join an online community, forum, or message board;

-Send us an email;

-Enter a contest or complete a survey; or

-Otherwise contact us using Personal Information.

Certain actions that you perform on the Site or Mobile Application may trigger the collection of additional Personal Information. Here are some examples:

Forums and Message Boards

Please be aware that any Personal Information as well as any other information or content that you post on a forum or message board, or otherwise disclose may be viewed by other Go Pangea users. We cannot control the actions of other users with whom you may choose to share information. You should have no expectation of privacy with respect to your communications through these Forums and Message Boards.

Contests

We may, from time to time, sponsor contests or other events (“Events”) which require the collection, processing, and storage of individual contact information and demographic information of those wishing to participate. These Events may prompt participants to answer survey questions.

Any personally identifiable information collected in connection with these Events will be treated as Personal Information. No purchase is ever necessary to participate in an Event. Please see the official rules of each Event for more information. We may co-sponsor Events with other companies, in which case any information collected is likely to be shared with participating sponsors, who may use this information as they wish. A registrant’s personal contact information will not be released to any Third Party organization, other than the named sponsors, without the registrant’s consent.

You may choose to register or enter a contest on behalf of another person. The personal information of another person also constitutes Personal Information.

Use

No Personal Information that makes identity and location known to the public will be released without authorization.

We may use your Personal Information for one or more of the following purposes:

-The specific purposes for which you provide the information to us;

-To fulfill your requests for, products, services, programs, subscriptions, and offerings;

-To send you information about your transactions with us;

-To send you a confirmation or to notify you that you have won a contest;

-To provide you with notification of new products, programs, services, or features;

-To enhance or develop features, products, or services; or

-To personalize content you and others see on Go Pangea.

We may also use the Personal Information we collect for internal purposes, which may require the transfer of such information to our other offices, affiliates, or Third Party service providers. This transfer may be necessary for administrative purposes, technical maintenance, communication about customer service issues and changes to Go Pangea. Go Pangea will not share your personal information with third party advertisers.

Except as set forth in this Privacy Policy, Go Pangea is not responsible for the confidentiality of any information communicated to Go Pangea and such information will be considered non-personal, non-confidential, and nonproprietary. You agree that Go Pangea may use anything you post or submit, including any feedback, information, and ideas, for the purpose of marketing Go Pangea, or for any other purpose without limitation and without the need to compensate you. You agree not to take action against Go Pangea or its owner in relation to content you submit when visiting the Site.

Children's Personal Information

Collection

When using the term "Children’s Personal Information,” we are referring to personally identifiable information of users who have registered for the Services as minor students (i.e., students under the age of 18) with the the consent of a parent, guardian, or either teacher or school administrator consenting on behalf of a parent or guardian. “Children’s Personal Information” can be identified as any information that students voluntarily submit to us, such as:

-First name;

-First initial of last name;

-Date of Birth;

-And email address.

We will often request this information when students:

-Register or create a profile;

-Request support;

-Send us an email;

-Enter a contest or complete a survey.

We may also collect the IP addresses of child user’s computers, which may be considered in some circumstances to be personally identifiable information.

Certain actions that children perform on the Site and Mobile Application may trigger the collection of additional Personal Information. Be aware that any Children’s Personal Information as well as any other information or content that children post within the Go Pangea Student Experience, or otherwise disclose may be collected. We cannot control the actions of students who may choose to share personal information.

Parent, guardians, teachers and school administrators consenting on behalf of a parent or guardian have a responsibility to monitor the content of student exchanges and report inappropriate, offensive, or dangerous content to Go Pangea by sending an email to support@gopangea.org.

Use

Children's Personal Information is used and retained exclusively for educational purposes. Go Pangea will not use Children's Personal Information for commercial purposes including but not limited to marketing or online advertising.

Go Pangea may use the Children’s Personal Information for internal purposes, which may require the transfer of such information to our affiliates or Third Party service providers. This transfer may be necessary for administrative purposes, technical maintenance, content improvements, and communication about customer service issues.

No Personal Information of Children that makes identity and location known to the public will be made visible on the non-password protected portion of Go Pangea without authorization from a Student’s Teacher or without express written permission from the Teacher or the Student’s Parent or Legal Guardian.

Go Pangea is committed to protecting the privacy of children. The Go Pangea experience for Younger Users is designed especially for users under 13. The experience allows these users to engage with Go Pangea while limiting the information collected from them. When a Younger User registers for Go Pangea, we collect only limited information, including username, password, and date of birth. We do not collect an email address, and Younger Users are not able to upload a profile image.

We may also collect certain information automatically from the user’s device, including internet or other network activity information such as device ID, IP address, web browser type and version, country-level location, as well as certain app activity data.

Younger Users cannot publicly share personal information. Go Pangea community moderators are instructed to flag and remove any posts created by Younger Users that share personal information. If you see a post from a Younger User containing personal information, please report it by sending an email to support@gopangea.org.

Parent & Guardian's Personal Information

During the Go Pangea Parent/Guardian registration process, we collect personal information to help us verify the Parent/Guardian’s account (i.e., first and last name and email address).

When using the term "Personal Information,” we are referring to personally identifiable information of registrants of Go Pangea. For Parents and Guardians, “Personal Information” can be identified as any information that you voluntarily submit to us, such as:

-Your first and last name;

-Email address;

-Username.

We will often request this information when you:

-Register for Go Pangea;

-Create a profile;

-Request support;

-Send us an email;

-Otherwise contact us using Personal Information.

Use

No Personal Information that makes identity and location known to the public will be released without authorization.

We may use your Personal Information for one or more of the following purposes:

-To verify your identity;

-To fulfill your requests for products, services, programs, subscriptions, and offerings;

-To send you information about your transactions with us;

-To personalize content you and others see on Go Pangea.

Aggregate Information

Collection

We may collect and use general, non-identifying information (“Aggregate Information”) to improve the content of our Site and Mobile Applications, for systems administration, and for troubleshooting purposes. This Site’s servers may automatically collect information including:

-Your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, which can identify the location from which you entered the Internet;

-The type of web browser you use;

-The type of operating system you use, such as your company or the domain name of -your Internet Service Provider (“ISP”);

-Web pages that you visit;

-And the number of pages you visit.

Use

We may use Aggregate Information to help improve use of Go Pangea. For example, we may use this information to analyze trends to improve the Site’s design and content as well as to help diagnose technical problems.

Sharing Aggregate and Personal Information

Go Pangea will not share Aggregate or Personal Information with Third Parties unless authorized to do so, if we believe in good faith that the law requires it, to protect the rights of Go Pangea, or as part of a sale disposition of our assets (including our membership and customer records). We may also use and disclose Personal Information to comply with any court order or government investigation, subpoena or inquiry, as otherwise required by law, or to protect the property or personal safety of Go Pangea, users of the Site, or the public. We may also use and disclose Personal Information to prevent or trace abuses of the Site, including but not limited to use of a forum or message boards.

Data Ownership and Deleting an Account

The Go Pangea account owner is the owner of any data and Personal Information submitted through Go Pangea. If a user would like to delete their Go Pangea account, the user can do so at any time by contacting support@gopangea.org. A Student’s Teacher, Parent, or Legal Guardian can also request that their Student’s account be deleted at any time by contacting support@gopangea.org. Please include the Student user’s username and email address (when applicable) so that we can better comply with your request.

When an account is deleted, we delete all Personal Information (name, username, password, email address, and profile photos) associated with the account. Information that student, parent, or teacher users have shared with others will also be deleted. Information or content that other users may have copied and stored may not be deleted.

We maintain our services in a manner that protects information from accidental or malicious deletion. Because of this, even after you update or delete Personal Information you have provided us from our Service, your Personal Information may be retained in our backup files and archives for a reasonable period of time as necessary for our legitimate business interests, such as fraud detection and prevention and enhancing safety. For example, we may retain certain information from that account to prevent that user from opening a new account in the future. Also, we may retain and use your Personal Information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations.

Users Located Outside the United States

When you use Go Pangea, you are consenting to have your data transferred to and processed in the United States. The servers that Go Pangea uses are currently located in the United States, and we aren’t able to process your information within the borders of any other country. Given this limitation, if your use of the Services or disclosure of certain information to Go Pangea would violate any law that is applicable to you, your right to use the Services and/or disclose such information is revoked, as it is wherever use of the Services is prohibited by law.

Go Pangea complies with the European General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) regarding the collection, use, and retention of Personal Information from European Union to the United States. Go Pangea processes Personal Information as a Controller, as defined in the GDPR. When teachers, students, school leaders, and parents enter information directly into our Service, Go Pangea will generally be the Controller for the user data, as outlined above in the “Information We Collect and How We Use It” section of this document.

Security Measures

We make concerted good faith efforts to maintain the security of all personal information. We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures in order to secure the information we collect online, prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, prevent fraud, ensure the correct use of information, and for risk management purposes. Among our security procedures includes the encryption of Personal Information and Children’s Personal Information both in transit and at rest.

While we work hard to ensure the security of our systems, no practices are completely immune from hackers and other digital threats. Outages, human error, cyber attacks, unauthorized use, or other factors may compromise the security of user information. If we learn of a security breach, we will attempt to notify you electronically so that you can take the appropriate protective steps. We will also post a notice on Go Pangea and depending on where you live, you may have the right to receive notice of security breach in writing. In the event of a breach of personal information Go Pangea will adhere to the NIST protocol.

Go Pangea has a “Data Protection Officer” who is responsible for matters relating to privacy and data collection. The Data Protection Officer can be reached through e-mail or physical mail by writing to support@gopangea.org (Attn: Data Protection Officer) or the mailing address below.

When you visit the Go Pangea Site and Mobile Application, you will be issued a “cookie,” a small text file placed on your user’s hard drive to track your use of the Site. Cookies help to prevent you from having to register or re-enter your information every time you visit the Site. Cookies are also used to authenticate your identity and provide us with certain information about your computer, but will not interfere with the operation of your computer. We may use cookies to gain knowledge of Internet usage and to improve the Site’s content.

If you would like to avoid cookies, your web browser may have an option that enables you to disable or not accept cookies. Please note, however, that some aspects of the Site may not function properly if you choose to disable or not accept cookies.

Web Beacons

We may use web beacons to gather metrics from anonymous web users and email recipients for the purpose of operating and improving the Site and email communications. A web beacon is an electronic image that is embedded in a web page or email which allows us to track when users view a web page or recipients open an email containing a beacon. We do not identify the name of a web user or the email address of a web recipient when we use web beacons.

Third Parties

This policy does not apply to websites or practices of companies that Go Pangea does not own or control, or to individuals that Go Pangea does not employ or manage.

Third Party Advertisements

Go Pangea will not share Personal Information or Children's Personal Information with online advertisers.

Hyperlinks and Embedded Video Content

We may post hyperlinks to Third Party websites (“Third Party Sites”). We cannot control the actions of Third Party Sites, and are not responsible for their use of any information that you provide directly to them. We advise you to take the time to educate yourself about the privacy policy and terms of use of any website that you visit. We do not control or endorse Third Party Sites.

Content from Third Party Sites may be embedded in content on Go Pangea. These Third Party Sites may download cookies to your computer, or use other technologies to measure the effectiveness of their content. We do not have access to or control of the cookies that may be placed on your computer by the Third Party Sites. The Third Party Sites do not have access to Personal Information or Children's Personal Information stored on the Site.

Disclaimer

While we have taken reasonable steps to limit the uses of information you provide and we may allow you to set privacy options that limit access to information you post on the Site, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. We cannot and do not guarantee that this information will remain permanently secure and will not be viewed by unauthorized persons. There is always a possibility that your information could be lost due to technical problems or stolen from our databases. We are not responsible for any such loss, theft, circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures, or any other unanticipated security breach. Even after removal, copies of information you post may remain viewable in cached and archived pages, or if other users have copied or stored this information.

Revisions to the Privacy Policy

We may periodically update the features of the Site to better serve you and all our customers. We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time and without advance notice and any modifications are effective when they are posted here.
